Men and women are very different when it comes to matters of the heart, and that’s just as true for matters of heart health.

While heart disease is on the decline among men, it is rising among women. Heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death in women in Canada.

Educating women greatly increases their willingness and ability to take heart-protective action, which is why the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance aims to inform women and their loved ones about heart disease and how they can take appropriate action to minimize their risk.

The CWHHA is proud to offer free in-person and online presentations for youth, healthcare providers, and the general public.

Presentations are tailored specifically to each audience and cover:

  • What heart disease is
  • How heart disease is different in women, including signs and symptoms
  • Risk Factors for heart disease
  • How you can take heart healthy action
  • Tips for talking with your health care provider

The presentations are typically one hour in length (45 min presentation + 15 min Q&A) and are led by either a healthcare provider and/or a person with lived experience.
